Use Zerovoc UV Epoxy resin instead of spackle/putty and you will save a step and time. Spackle takes about 24 hours to dry, Zerovoc cures in minutes. Also you will be creating a very important bond between the resin and the surfboard blank that will have a flexible "tooth" that will help the surfboard from delaminating without loosing flexable strength.
What Zerovoc you do not use can be saved because it is not catalyzed. (The catalyst is the UV rays).
